The Digital Image as

a Transcendental Medium:

A Manifesto

2017-18

The Manifesto text made possible with
the help of Batool El Hennawy in translating and editing.

This thesis posits a question on the kind of space the digital image can offer for imaginative consciousness and perceptive consciousness.

Imaginative consciousness is the capacity to form relationships to a medium/object through concepts that might have not existed if it weren’t for the interference of imagination: a state of living imagination. Perceptual consciousness is the capacity to make sense of something seen directly through the ability to perceive.

To demonstrate this line of reasoning through the development of questions on consciousness and the digital image, six formulation are presented as figurative and applicable case studies.
